BCs Online FAQs

TöltSense Online has teamed up with the Icelandic Horse Society of Great Britain to offer the first ever online British Championships warm-up event. Entries are open between the 3rd and 18th June. We have two FEIF international Judges and prizes will be up for grabs.

Who can enter?
Anyone, anywhere. You do not have to be a member of IHSGB to enter this event and you don't have to live in the UK. However, your horse should be registered in the WorldFengur database.
Which classes are available?
We are offering the following oval track classes: F3, F1, V5, V1, T8, T6, T5, T2, and T1. When you look at the event details, you can read the explanatory information for each class.
What is the cost?
Each entry costs £14.95
Are there prizes?
Yes! Although this event is distinct from the in-person championships, the IHSGB Sport Group will announce the results and award rosettes and prizes in person on the Saturday evening. If you can’t attend the event, they will contact you to confirm postage details. All entrants will receive a memento.
When can I enter?
Entries can be made at any time between 3rd and 18th June
How many entries can I make?
There is no limit on the number of entries or horses you can enter in this event. We assume that you will produce your videos in a way that gives your horse adequate time to recover.
What tack and equipment is allowed?
We aim to comply with the FEIF rules and regulations, but of course, online events cannot be regulated in the same way as in-person events: we cannot weigh your boots or measure your whip, for example. However, riders will be asked to declare that the tack and equipment used is compliant. If a judge sees that you are using non-compliant equipment then you will be disqualified.
Can I ride 'HC' with prohibited equipment?
No. Given this is an IHSGB sport event, aligned with the FEIF Rules and Regulations, we can only allow permitted equipment to be used. This is the case even if a rider wishes to enter HC, and especially if an item is excluded on the basis of welfare concerns. Moreover, international judges have an obligation to FEIF above all else. If they saw prohibited equipment being used in a video they would have to award zero and disqualify the rider.
Where can I ride my tests?
Anywhere with enough space for you to be able to ride a test and get someone to video you. You can use a 40×20 or 60×20 arena, a field, or an Oval Track. In an open space like a field, your track should be marked out with e.g. cones, and should be a minimum of 40×20 with proper corners. For the five gait tests (which include pace), at least a 60×20 Arena or Oval Track is needed. Please note, if you are riding in an arena significantly smaller than an oval track then we would normally expect 2 rounds of each gait (except walk and pace) to make up for this. Please refer to the class descriptions on the event's details page.
Is this a public event?
Yes. Please refer to "Will others be able to see my video?"
Will others be able to see my video?
Yes. This event is a competition and it is only right that when you compete against others you should see what you are up against and vice versa. Moreover, it’s an act of community engagement to enter this event and therefore spectators should be able to view your submission. That said, we have not yet been able (had time!) to develop the public facing observation page for the show. We are working on it though, so please assume that your video will be made public. The rules for this are 1) no videos will be public until all tests are marked, 2) it will not be possible to download videos from the site, 3) videos will only be public for a 2 week period following the show closing date (unless the entrant has given permissions otherwise), and 4) only registered users will be able to view the videos (unless the entrant has given permission otherwise).
Will others be able to see my marks?
Yes. This event is a competition and it is only right that when you compete against others you should see what scores you are up against and vice versa. Moreover, it’s an act of community engagement to enter this event and therefore spectators should be able to view your results. When the event is closed, results will be published, but your judge's comments will remain private to you.
How do I pay?
Payment will be made by debit or credit card and is initiated from from within the TöltSense Online platform. When you check out you will be directed to the Stripe online payment page. At no point are your card details viewed or stored by TöltSense Ltd. We do not accept PayPal, BACS, cheque or cash.
How will I get my marks?
When the judges have completed marking your test you will receive an email from TöltSense inviting you to visit the app and check the results. See the section “Review your entries and marks” in the Getting Started guide. You can of course visit the app and review your submission whenever you like and it will remain in your account forever.
Who’s judging?
We have two FEIF international judges ready to mark your tests. Fi Pugh (GB), and Petra van der Linden (NL). They will not only mark your test but also try to give you some specific feedback on what you can do to improve your marks.
Online vs in-person
The BCs online is a separate event from the in-person British Championships. Classes you enter here are not the same competition as the event in Aston-Le-Walls, so you cannot become a British Champion by entering the online event. Nor is the 'BCs Online' a qualifying event for GB Team selection.
How do I get help / support?
Please be sure to read the Getting Started guide as this covers everything you need to know. If you still have questions or problems using this site you are welcome to contact Torben using the email address: torben AT toltsense DOT com. Please bear in mind I have a busy day job and may not be able to respond for a day or two.
